DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival
Arrival: you will be transferred from Kigali International airport to your lodge in Kigali on day 1 of 7 days Rwanda double gorilla trek and chimps safari in Nyungwe forest where you will check in for a meal. Depending on you’re the time you arrive, you will be driven in Kigali to visit the genocide memorial sites, markets and craft shop then spend an overnight in Kigali.

Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe forest national park
Transfer from Kigali to Nyungwe forest national park: on day 2 of 7 days Rwanda double gorilla trek and chimps safari in Nyungwe forest, after breakfast, check out of the lodge and be transferred to Nyungwe forest national park which is situated far southwestern Rwanda taking about 6-7 hours’ drive with lots of sceneries to view of stunning hills, tea plantations along the way and the local community members. Enjoy an en route lunch while dinner will be at the lodge after check in.

Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy in Nyungwe forest
Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe forest: after breakfast on day 3 of 7 days Rwanda double gorilla trek and chimps safari in Nyungwe forest, you will pack your snack s, and a bottle of drinking water then join the rest of the trekkers for a briefing and later on penetrate in Nyungwe forest for an adventure in search of habituated chimpanzees available for trekking. Spend an hour with chimpanzees and return to the lodge for relaxation.
Canopy walk: Late in the evening, you will set out for a canopy walk in Nyungwe forest which is one of the best canopy walk in Africa lasting at least 2 hours where you will spot more primates, mammals, and a clear view of Volcanoes national park. Return for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to volcanoes national park
Transfer to Volcanoes national park: On day 4 of 7 days Rwanda double gorilla trek and chimps safari in Nyungwe forest, be ready to be transferred from Nyungwe forest national park to Volcanoes national park. After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and meet with you driver to embark on a 7 hours’ drive via hills, and tea farms with an enroute lunch. Upon arrival at the park, check in at the lodge then have an evening walk towards Lake Ruhondo and Burela crater lakes.

Day 5: 1st gorilla trek in volcanoes national park
1st gorilla trek: As we stated that this 7 days Rwanda double gorilla trek and chimps safari in Nyungwe forest includes a double gorilla trek, on day 5 you will be served breakfast very early and later on enjoy your 1st gorilla trek in Volcanoes national park. Trekking mountain gorillas starts with a briefing at the park headquarters where different trekkers are later allocated their respective gorilla families to trek. Penetrate the forest and hunt for the endangered mountain gorillas in the jungle. Being a full day activity, you are advised to park some snack, enough drinking water and hire a porter before starting the hike. Apart from gorillas, Volcanoes national park has other wildlife species to encounter during gorilla trekking. After the trek, you will return to the lodge for evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 6: 2nd Gorilla trek in Volcanoes national park
2nd gorilla trek: In reference to the previous activity on day 5, day 6 of 7 days Rwanda double gorilla trek and chimps safari in Nyungwe forest is also the same as you will repeat the same procedures. However on this day, request that you encounter a different gorilla family in order to compare the experience between trekking different gorilla families though the time allowed in presence of gorillas remains one hour per trek. Day 7: Departures
Departures: this is the last day of your 7 days Rwanda double gorilla trek and chimps safari. Therefore, have a relaxed breakfast, check out of the lodge and embark on the journey back to Kigali with an option of Hiking Dian fossey grave or trekking golden monkeys which will depend on your fitness level after double trekking gorillas in two consecutive days. Well, after doing whatever you need to do in volcanoes national park, you will be driven back to Kigali with an enroute lunch as you proceed to be dropped at Kigali International airport.
