Detailed Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park.
Transfer to Volcanoes national park: On day 1 of 7 days Rwanda Congo safari tour, our company representative will pick you up from a hotel in Kigali or from Kigali international airport and be driven to Volcanoes national park via rolling hills views of the thrilling vegetation cover.

Day 2: Mountain gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park
Mountain gorilla trekking: After breakfast on day 2 of 7 days Congo Rwanda safari tour, pack enough snacks, drinking water and any other thing needed during gorilla trekking then be transferred for a briefing after which the real adventure begins as you search for the habituated mountain gorillas in their natural habitats. Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park lasts between 2 -7hours depending on the movement of gorillas since they are found of meandering in the forest in search of food. After finding gorillas, you will spend only one hour with them taking photographs and learning about their behaviors after which you will return to the lodge for lunch. You will have either an evening walk to the twin lakes of Burela and Ruhondo or have a cultural visit to the Ibyiwacu cultural village for a breath taking cultural performance of music, dance and drama throughout the evening.

Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park
Transfer to Nyungwe forest national park: After breakfast on day 3 of 7 Days Congo Rwanda safari tour, check out of the lodge and meet your Rwanda safari driver to start the journey to Nyungwe forest national park with a stopover at Murambi genocide memorial site, as well as Nyanza king’s palace along the way to Nyungwe forest. Lunch will be enjoyed enroute and upon arrival at the park, you will check in your lodge for dinner and have an overnight sleep.

Day 4: Chimpanzees trekking and canopy walk in Nyungwe forest national park
Chimpanzee trekking and Canopy walk: Upon completing your breakfast on day 4 of 7 days Rwanda Congo safari tour, head to the forest for a briefing as early as 5am where you will join other people ready for chimpanzee trekking as you attend the briefing. After briefing, the real adventure in the forest commences as you walk via different trails in search of chimpanzees in the forest for about 2-5 hours. Once you find these chimpanzees, you will have only one hour in their presence interacting and learning about their behaviors after which you will return to your lodge for lunch.
Later in the afternoon, you will trail back in the forest for a fascinating canopy walk. Nyungwe forest national park offers the best canopy walk in Africa. During this 2-3 canopy walk, you will be able to have a stunning view of the entire Nyungwe forest national park at a tree top height. You will later on exit the forest and return to the lodge for a relaxed dinner and overnight sleep.

Day 5: Transfer to Lake Kivu in Gisenyi
Transfer to Lake Kivu: On day 5 of 7 days Rwanda Congo safari tour, you will arise from your bed, have breakfast served then check out of the lodge and embark on a road drive to Lake Kivu with an enroute lunch and upon arrival at Lake Kivu, you will spend an evening at leisure along the shores of the lake. You may enjoy an evening boat ride on Lake Kivu, have a nature walk or enjoy some beach activities and many more.

Day 6: Hike Mount Nyiragongo (ascend)
Hike Mount Nyiragongo Hike (Ascend): On day 6 of 7 days Rwanda Congo safari tour, enjoy a heavy breakfast then pack all the required equipment and items that you might need while on a hike to summit the top of Nyiragongo then check out of the lodge and meet your driver for a transfer to Virunga national park in Democratic Republic of Congo where you will be transferred direct to Kibati ranger post for briefing. During briefing, make the key points like the dos and don’ts during the hike and later on set off on a 5-6 hours walk to the summit of Mount Nyiragongo the most active volcano in Virunga massif whose last eruption in 2002 cause a huge disastrous destruction to live of human, wildlife and property. You will spend an overnight at the summit of Nyiragongo viewing the boiling Lava Lake.

Day 7: Descend Nyiragongo and return to Kigali for departures
