Safari Highlights

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Pick up in Kigali – Transfer to Akagera national park – boat ride at Lake Ihema.
Depending on your location in Kigali, you will be picked up very early and transfer to Akagera National park, which is about 4-5 hours. En-route through the country’s remarkable landscape with views of the country’s beauty and the lifestyle of its people
Upon arrival in the park early afternoon, you will proceed to check in and have lunch. After lunch, you will go for a boat ride on Lake Ihema, which will offer you great views of the surrounding areas; hills, and swamps. Expect to see Hippos, crocodiles, and more bird species. Dinner and overnight stay at Akagera Game Lodge
Day 2: Full day game drive and transfer to Kigali
Wake up early, enjoy breakfast, and go for a game drive in search of animals like Elephants, Giraffes, Buffaloes, lions, and several antelope species and introduced Rhinos. After your full day game drive, drive out of the park and connect to Kigali with en-route lunch. Upon arrival in Kigali. Dinner and overnight stay at Step Town Motel for budget
Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park (6-7 hours’ drive)
After breakfast, you will meet up with our guide and thereafter transfer to Nyungwe forest national park with lunch en-route. En-stop at Rwanda national museum. Continue to your booked accommodation for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay at Gisakura Visitors Center for budget
Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk experience
Enjoy breakfast and go for a briefing about the endangered chimpanzees before entering the forest in search of the active and playful fellows in the Nyungwe forest. The Chimpanzees in Nyungwe forest are harder to see given that they are not fully habituated however, the rangers will do their best that you get to see the chimpanzees. This activity may take a whole day as they chimpanzees keep moving all the time. On finding them, you will be given 1 hour to spend with them as they jump from one tree to another, chattering and laughing while you take pictures and videos. You will then return to your hotel.
Later afternoon, connect for a canopy walk experience – a swing bridge 50 meters in length that is suspended from large trees. You will be able to see the amazing rainforest with a bird’s eye view, spotting wildlife moving about below you thereafter connect to your accommodation. Dinner and an overnight stay at lodge as above
Day 5: Transfer back to Kigali – Departure
After breakfast, check-out of the lodge to transfer back to Kigali with lunch en-route and some visit to the some of the Rwanda genocide and cultural sites of your choice and cost. Upon arrival, you will either be dropped off at location you advise in Kigali or at Kigali airport for your onward flight back home.
