Option 1: 3 Days Rwanda gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park
This first option sees you arrive from Kigali in Rwanda, transfer to Volcanoes National Park in the Northern Province of Rwanda in a district of Musanze for mountain gorilla trekking and depart from Kigali – Rwanda. Day 1: Arrival & Transfer to Ruhengeri – Volcanoes National Park
On arrival, you will be met by a representative from our Rwanda tours and travel company and go for a brief city tour including a visit to Kimironko market and have lunch at Mille Collines Hotel (Hotel Rwanda) and after transfer to Ruhengeri – the nearest place to Volcanoes National Park found in the northern province of Rwanda. The journey is a 3 hours drive from Kigali and you will visit the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo en-route. Arrive Ruhengeri in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay at Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking – Volcanoes National Park
Rise to am tasty early morning breakfast and transfer to Volcanoes National Park headquarters with packed lunch and bottled drinking water for a short briefing session by the park ranger guides at exactly 7:00 am. After this briefing, you will then start off with your gorilla trekking adventure under the accompaniment of the ranger guides in search for the endangered mountain gorillas. This escape takes between 2 to 8 hours depending on the mobility of mountain gorillas. However, the park ranger guides will try to locate them from their previous day spot then guide your group towards the right direction.
You will spend an hour with these mountain gorillas upon locating them and later return to your lodge for refreshment, probably relax a bit and later go for a village cultural tour with a resident local guide visiting the village and real homesteads around the park. Return in the evening for dinner and overnight stay at Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge as above.
Day 3: Golden Monkey Tracking, Transfer to Kigali & Airport Drop-off
Wake up to anearly morning breakfast and go for Golden monkey tracking with the same procedure as Gorilla trekking. The activity lasts 3 to 4 hours and transfer back to Kigali city where you will visit the Gisozi Genocide memorial site and the Kaplaki handcrafts village for souvenir shopping. Later proceed to the airport for your onward flight.
Option 2: 3 Days Uganda Gorillas from Kigali
If the 3 days Rwanda gorilla safari in Volcanoes National Park is too expensive for you then you might have to consider a 3 days Uganda gorilla trekking from Kigali option. Day 1. Kigali to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Be awake early in the morning at your hotel in Kigali for the early morning breakfast, after you will be met by our company representative and the driver guide who will brief you on the itinerary and the program. After you cup of tea we start our long drive to South Western Uganda passing through small and big towns of Rwanda with our first stop at Musanze for pictures. Proceed to Kabale with our eyes close to the window to observe the long Ankole cattle grazing along the roads, reaching in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for lunch and some little rest. When we reach the park, we shall then drive direct to our lodge check-in for refreshments and wait for our dinner. The next day is when you carry out gorilla trekking in Bwindi.
Day 2. Gorilla trekking
After our morning breakfast be driven to the park headquarters for briefing by the game rangers before you will be distributed in the groups of 8 people and allocated the Gorilla families to trek. Each group will be accompanied by a game ranger who will be your guide at the forest start the walk down and ups in the forest as we look for these wonderful cousins of ours taking some time trekking them depending on where they spent the last nite. This is the most challenging and interesting day of gorilla tours.
After getting the Gorillas you will be allowed to spend one hour with them if you are doing Gorilla trekking. If one is doing Gorilla habituation where the group is strictly four people you will spend 4 hours with the gorillas. After trekking return back to the head quarters if far the ranger will communicate with your driver and he comes and pick you from certain destination as per the instructions of the ranger enter to the car and be driven. You will be issued with trekking certificates you take back home to show that you successfully trek the Gorillas in Uganda’s Bwindi impenetrable Forest. The chances of seeing the Gorillas are 99% since they are first tracked by the Uganda wildlife Authority rangers before the clients go for trekking. In the evening go for community walk to the Batwa indigenous tribe, see the community Cultural performance, dressing code, way of life, visit the local community schools around and many more. Return back to your lodge for Dinner and overnight
Day 3. Bwindi to Kigali or Kigali International Airport
Say bye to the lodge management and we drive back to Kigali in Rwanda with en-route lunch. If you have a flight on this day make sure you book late evening flight since the drive takes about 4 to 5 hours to the airport. You may alternatively choose to be dropped at any hotel or accommodation facility of your choice in Rwanda.
