Day 1 of 6 days Congo safari in Kahuzi Beiga & Virunga national park: Transfer to Bukavu
Kigali to Bukavu: As soon as you land at Kigali international airport on day 1 of 6 days Congo safari in Kahuzi Beiga & Virunga national park with gorilla trekking and Nyiragongo Hike, you will be welcomed by your safari driver who will introduce you to this 6 days Congo safari and you start the journey from Kigali to Kahuzi Beiga national park in Bukavu. On this day, you are advised to arrive as early as possible in order to enjoy all the fascinating activities on this 1st day or else you should spend an overnight in Kigali a day before the safari. During the transfer to Bukavu, you will enjoy an enroute lunch, and if time allows have a visit to the Museum and the palace as you head to Bukavu.

Trekking lowland gorillas is more fun since the lowland gorillas are magnificent in size as compared to mountain gorillas and in DRC, Lowland Gorilla trekking is carried out only in Kahuzi Beiga national park.

Transfer from Kahuzi Beiga to Virunga national park: Enjoy your breakfast at leisure on day 3 of 6 days Congo safari in Kahuzi Beiga & Virunga national park with gorilla trekking and Nyiragongo Hike then check out of the lodge to meet your driver to take a boat cruise from Bukavu and connect to Goma for a lunch break before proceeding to Virunga national park. Upon arrival at Virunga national park, you will check in at the lodge for a relaxed dinner and overnight. However, you may spend your evening on a nature walk.

Day 4 of 6 days Congo safari in Kahuzi Beiga & Virunga national park: Mountain gorilla trekking in Virunga national park
Gorilla trekking: After breakfast on day 4 of 6 days Congo safari in Kahuzi Beiga & Virunga national park with gorilla trekking and Nyiragongo Hike, pack enough snacks and water and be ready for a transfer to the park head offices where gorilla briefing will be conducted before you start the fascinating and adventurous gorilla trekking safari. Once you encounter with the gorillas, you will spend a maximum of one hour with gorillas and later on be driven back to your lodge for dinner and have a sound sleep.

Day 5 of 6 days Congo safari in Kahuzi Beiga & Virunga national park: Hike mount Nyiragongo (Ascend)
Hike Mount Nyiragongo: Early in the morning you will take breakfast on day 5 of 6 days Congo safari in Kahuzi Beiga & Virunga national park with gorilla trekking and Nyiragongo Hike and later on check out of the lodge to be transferred to Kibati Ranger post in time to meet other Hikers for a briefing before embarking on a thrilling Nyiragongo hike which starts at around 10:00am local time. Hire a porter to assist you in carrying extra luggage since you won’t return to the lodge after descending Nyiragongo. A hike to summit the top of Nyiragongo takes about 4-6 hours.

Day 6 of 6 days Congo safari in Kahuzi Beiga & Virunga national park: Descend Mount Nyiragongo & Departures
Descend Nyiragongo & departures: Enjoy your breakfast at the summit of Mount Nyiragongo and meet other hikers to start descending at 6:00am on day 6 of 6 days Congo safari in Kahuzi Beiga & Virunga national park with gorilla trekking and Nyiragongo Hike. Upon arrival at the Kibati ranger post by 10:30am, you will be driven amidst tight security back to Congo Rwanda border where you will meet your driver for a transfer to Kigali for departures.
