DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Welcome to Uganda

Arrival: Upon Landing at Entebbe international airport on day 1 of 20 days Uganda safari, be sure to meet with our company representative who will first brief you about your 20 days Uganda safari itinerary and transfer to a reserved hotel in either Kampala or Entebbe depending on your itinerary. Upon arrival at the hotel, you will check in for a meal then enjoy an evening city tour as a welcome to the pearl of Africa.

Day 2: Transfer to Lake Mburo national park

Kampala to Lake Mburo national park: Enjoy your breakfast on day 2 of 20 days Uganda safari then check out of the lodge and embark on the road transfer from Kampala/ Entebbe to Lake Mburo national park the smallest park but worth a visit due to its unique attractions. The journey to Lake Mburo is short taking about 4 hours’ drive with a stopover at the equator to enjoy taking photographs while standing between the North and South Pole of the equator. Proceed to the park where you are expected to arrive in time for lunch. Check in your lodge and have lunch served then return to the park for an afternoon boat cruise on one of the lakes in the park where you will cruise while watching plenty of wildlife along the lake shores. After boat cruise, enjoy an enroute evening game drive as you return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Walking safari and game drive in Lake Mburo national park

Walking safari and game drive: Arise from the comfort of your bed early in the morning on day 3 of 20 days Uganda safari, have breakfast and meet the local guide for a guided walking safari to spot several wildlife in the park on foot. After walking safari, return to the lodge for lunch and spend the remaining hours of the day on a game drive to various corners of the park.

There are optional activities to enjoy on this day including horseback ride, cycling and community tour. Let us know if you would need any of them.

Day 4: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Lake Mburo national park to Lake Bunyonyi: After breakfast on day 4 of 20 days Uganda safari, check out of the lodge and meet your driver for a drive to Kabale district known as Switzerland of Africa where you will enjoy a scenic view of farmlands along the way and rolling hills of kigezi. Upon arrival in Kabale, you will be driven direct to Lake Bunyonyi for hotel check in and lunch. Later in the evening, enjoy a breath taking a canoe ride on the world’s second deepest lake  while exploring different islands since there are 27 islands found on Lake Bunyonyi. Retire to your lodge later on for dinner and overnight rest.

Day 5: Half day on Lake Bunyonyi and transfer to Mgahinga gorilla national park

Half day on lake Bunyonyi and transfer to Mgahinga gorilla national park: Enjoy a relaxed breakfast at the shores of Lake Bunyonyi on day 5 of 20 days Uganda safari then spend a half day excursion on the lake watching plenty of birds since the lake is a home to several little birds, view the stunning hills of kabale, terraces and enjoy the entire flora of different plant species. Enjoy a walk, relax at the beach but don’t tempt to swim unless you are indeed an experienced swimmer. There is yet an option of zip lining on Lake Bunyonyi. After spending a half day on Lake Bunyonyi, return to your lodge for lunch then check out and be transferred to Mgahinga gorilla national park for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Golden monkey trekking in Mgahinga gorilla national park

Golden monkey trekking: After an early breakfast on day 6 of 20 days Uganda safari, meet your safari driver and be transferred to the park headquarters for briefing before setting off to trek the endangered golden monkeys which are only trekked in Mgahinga gorilla national park in whole country. Mgahinga gorilla national park is yet famous for harboring only one Nyakagezi gorilla family that is trekked by maximum of 8 trekkers per day. Well, during golden monkey trekking, look out for our forest dwellers including other primates, mammals, birds, butterflies, reptiles and different plant species. This trek last about 2-4 hours with only one hour of close contact with these cheerful and beautiful primates. Return to the lodge later on for lunch after which you will check out of the lodge and be driven to Bwindi impenetrable national park a home to the largest population of the remaining mountain gorillas in the whole world. Upon arrival, check in your lodge for dinner and overnight sleep.

Day 7: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park

Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park: Arise from your bed as early as possible on day 7 of 20 days Uganda safari, pack enough snacks, drinking water and wear your gorilla trekking gear as you meet your safari driver for a transfer to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing after which you will hire a porter and set off onto a walk in the forest to search for the habituated mountain gorilla family. This trek lasts from some minutes to about 7 hours or even a full day. After finding the gorillas, you will spend only one hour in their presence taking photographs and learning about their behaviors then exit the forest back to the park headquarters to obtain your gorilla trekking certificate and be returned to the lodge. Spend your evening at leisure or have a batwa experience.

Day 8: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park

Bwindi impenetrable national park to Queen Elizabeth national park: After breakfast on day 8 of 20 days Uganda safari, check out of the lodge with packed lunch and be driven to Queen Elizabeth national park via Ishasha sector for a game drive to spot tree climbing lions and other different wildlife that are found in this sector. After the game drive, enjoy your picnic lunch and proceed your journey to the northern part of the park (heart of the park) where you will check in your reserved lodge for dinner and overnight rest.

Day 9: Game drive and boat cruise in Queen Elizabeth national park

Game drive and boat cruise: Enjoy your breakfast in time as early as possible on day 9 of 20 days Uganda safari then be driven to Kasenyi plain where day game drives are conducted with an opportunity of spotting several wildlife species including mammals such as Lions, uganda kob, buffaloes, elephants, warthogs, giraffes, antelopes , several bird species and many more. After game drive, return to the lodge for lunch and embark on an afternoon boat cruise on the mighty kazinga channel that connect Lake Gorge to Lake Edward. Kazinga channel is famous for harboring a large population of Hippos and it’s the same place where hippo census is conducted, let’s know if you need to participate in Hippo census as well. Return to your lodge on an enroute evening game drive, have your served dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Lion tracking experience in Queen Elizabeth national park and transfer to Kibale forest national park

Lion tracking and transfer to Kibale forest national park: After breakfast on day 10 of 20 days Uganda safari, join the researchers and head out for a fascinating lion tracking experience where you will be able to get closer to the pride of lion by use of trackers to allocate where they are and drive towards them. This is activity is under the management of uganda Carnivore project and it was introduce at a time when lions were scare and sometimes tourists would visit the park and fail to see any lion thus introduction of this activity. You will then return to the lodge for lunch, check out and be transferred on a 2 hour’s drive to Kibale forest national park for overnight.

Day 11: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi wetland nature walk in kibale forest national park

Chimpanzee trekking and bigodi wetland guided nature walk: After breakfast on day 11 of 20 days Uganda safari, pack all that you require during chimpanzee trekking and be driven to Kanyanchu where you will be briefed about chimpanzee trekking then penetrate the forest for the search alongside armed rangers and local guides. The trek takes 2-4 hours with one hour of close vicinity between you and the chimpanzees in their natural habitats in kibale forest. Return to the lodge for lunch and spend your evening on a guided nature walk in one of the best destinations for bird lovers and botanical.

Day 12: Visit the crater Lakes and Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru caves

Visit crater lakes and caves: After morning breakfast on day 12 of 20 days Uganda safari, head out for an adventure to visit the Ndali crater lakes that were formed as a result of volcanic activities for over 10,000 years. These lakes have a stunning vegetation cover along the shores that attract several wildlife species. Later in the evening, you will visit Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru caves.

Day 13: Transfer to Murchison falls national park

Kibale forest national park to Murchison falls national park: day 13 of 20 days Uganda safari is a full day road drive since the journey from Kibale forest to Murchison falls is a bit long but manageable and adventurous with plenty of attractions along the way. Enjoy an enroute lunch and upon park arrival, proceed to check in your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 14: Game drive and boat cruise in Murchison falls national park

Game drive and boat cruise: After enjoying your morning breakfast on day 14 of 20 days Uganda safari, transfer to the northern part of the park for a fascinating game drive where you will spot plenty of wildlife in the savanna plains of the park such as elephant, lions, buffaloes, waterbucks, bushbucks, giraffes, uganda kob, warthogs, giraffe and several species of birds. After game drive, return to the lodge for lunch and spend your afternoon on a boat cruise up stream to the bottom of water fall along the Nile River. During the boat cruise, you won’t only be rewarded with a view of water fall but also lots of attractions of different flora and fauna species such as Crocodiles, Hippos, water birds, buffaloes and other mammals that visit the river in search of water. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 15: Transfer to Kidepo valley national park

Murchison falls national park to Kidepo valley national park: After breakfast on day 15 of 20 days Uganda safari, check out of the lodge and start another long journey drive to Kidepo valley national park situated far in the Northern part of Uganda in border with South Sudan and Kenya. Kidepo valley national park is one the best savanna park that is yet rarely visited due to its strategic location thus not easily visited by tourists on short safari with limited travel time. Well, upon arrival, you will be astonished by the stunning vegetation cover that harbors several wildlife species including big 5 game (Lions, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes and Rhinos) plus other small mammals, birds, butterflies and many more. You will enjoy an enroute lunch in Gulu or Kitgum and upon arrival at the park, check in your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 16: Full day in Kidepo valley national park

Full day in Kidepo valley national park: After breakfast, start your day 16 of 20 days Uganda safari with a game drive in Narus valley that harbors a large population of mammals that are seen congesting the water bodies. This days game drive will open closed door to several species of wildlife including mammals such as Lions, Leopards, cheetahs, elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, zebras,  and many more without forgetting several bird species. Later in the evening proceed with the game drive this time round towards south Sudan border where you will visit the water falls and later on return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 17: Trek Mount Morungole to visit the IK people

Trek mount Morungole to meet the Ik people: After breakfast on day 17 of 20 days Uganda safari, pack your lunch box and drinking water and be led on a full day Mount Morungole hike to visit the smallest ethnic group of people in Uganda the pearl of Africa. Spend some time with these locals learning about their culture, listen to their stories and later on descend back to return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 18: Transfer to Sipi falls

Kidepo valley national park to Sipi falls via Pian Upe national reserve: After breakfast on day 18 of 20 days Uganda safari, check out of the lodge and meet your safari driver for a transfer from Kidepo valley national park to Sipi area with an enroute game drive in Pian Upe with a golden opportunity to spot hyenas, leopards, serval cats, and some primate species among others. After the game drive, proceed with the transfer to Sipi falls with an enroute lunch and expect to arrive late in the evening for check in, dinner and overnight.

Day 19: Hike Sipi falls and transfer to Jinja

Hike Sipi falls and transfer to Jinja: Upon finishing your breakfast on day 19 of 20 days Uganda safari, embark on Sipi falls hike where you ascend and descend all the 3 water falls at different elevations starting with the highest at 100m followed by 85m and lastly 75m. The hike rewards hikers with stunning encounter along the way including the local community members such as Bagishu, coffee plantations, view of Mount Elgon that stands between Uganda and Kenya border within Mount Elgon national park. After the hike, you will return to the lodge for lunch then check out and be transferred to Jinja to visit the source of the Nile.

Day 20: White water fating and transfer to Kampala for departures 

Jinja White water rafting and departures: After breakfast on day 20 of 20 days Uganda safari, head to Itanda falls or bujagali falls for a half day white water rafting where you will enjoy rafting up to grade 5 waves. This is one of the top done activity in Jinja. After rafting, have your lunch then check out and start your journey to Kampala where you will proceed to Entebbe international airport for departures.
