In Serengeti National Park the migration is best done in August through October. During this period of the year – the migration heads north out of the central Serengeti and it divides into two routes. The main herd /group heads into the western corridor crossing the Grumenti River in splendid stampedes, while at the river enormous Nile crocodiles wait patiently to snatch wildebeests as they surge to cross.

After crossing the Grumenti River, they will make another river crossing at the Mara River so as to access the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya.

Detailed Itinerary of 7 Days Tanzania Wildebeest Great Migration Safari

Day 1; Arriva – Arusha

On day 1 of the 7 Days Tanzania Wildebeest Great Migration Safari, upon arrival in Tanzania at Kilimanjaro International Airport in Arusha. You will be warmly welcomed by our safari representative guide and then transferred to your hotel in Arusha. Dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Arusha – Ngorongoro

After an early breakfast, you will depart for Ngorongoro Conservation Area which ranks world’s 8th wonder, from Arusha it is a drive estimated 4 hours to Ngorongoro, arrive in time for lunch at the lodge after checking then, go for an afternoon game drive at the crater floor. You will descend 600 meters to the crater lookout for animals, the crater floor harbors a variety of animals such as herds of wildebeests, zebras, cape buffaloes, elands, jackals, cheetahs, warthogs, cheetahs, elusive leopards and other which you will enjoy watching.

While on a game drive, expect also to visit Lake Magadi – a large shallow alkaline lake located in the southwestern corner of the crater. The fact, this lake is one of the main features of the crater and hosts a large number of flamingoes, hippos and other water birds like cormorants which you will enjoy watching. By 6 pm, you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Ngorongoro – Serengeti ‘’Central Seronera’’

On the After breakfast, check out of the lodge and transfer to Serengeti National Park a heart of wild Africa with excellent plains and vast wildlife including the big five, predators and hosts of the wildebeest great migration. You will proceed a drive to the north region of the park ‘’Lobo Area’’ which is located just north of the Seronera area in central Serengeti.

The great wildebeest migration is the major highlight of this safari normally passes through the Lobo Area around July –August while on en –route to Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya.

Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch, then go for an afternoon game drive in the beautiful plains of the Lobo area. You will enjoy adventuring herds of wildebeests on their journey and large numbers of predators following the large herds to hunt.

Day 4: Serengeti ‘’Seronera Area’’

You will have breakfast and then head to the Seronera Area for a full day game drive with a packed lunch, Seronera Area is the central region of Serengeti National Park and is located around Lobo and the Grummet Area.  This Lobo area attracts a huge number of game all year round, during the game drive you will have a chance to enjoy watching non migrating wildlife like elephants, buffalo, gazelle, lion, zebra, leopard and cheetah many more.

Seronera area is one of the once lifetime-changing corners of Serengeti plains with thrilling riverine trees found along the river lines and many species of birds including Kingfishers, fish eagles many more which you will enjoy watching.

Later return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Serengeti ‘’Central ‘’ – Northern Serengeti ‘’Kogetende Area’’

Wake up have breakfast and head towards the far northern region of Serengeti National Park – they are also known as Wagakuria. You will have en-route game drive from the Lobo area to the Wagakuria area.

Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch and later go for an afternoon game drive in the Wagakuria are, normally the wildebeest migration can be located in this area from August to October depending on rainfall patterns.

Along the stretch of Mara River that creates a boundary between Serengeti National Park and Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya offering the migration with the most difficult obstacle in their annual journey. Although it creates the most fabulous and stunning episode of the migration which is the Mara river crossing, later you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6 After breakfast, descend to the crater floor for a game drive

On this day, wake up early have your packed breakfast and then your driver guide will transfer you down to the crater floor. The Ngorongoro crater is the largest unbroken and unflooded caldera in the world with a diameter of about 20 square kilometers and 600 meters deep.

The ancient caldera is regarded as the 8th wonder of the world with its jaw-dropping scenery and mind-blowing wildlife populations and also home to about 30,000 animals. You may have a chance to view all the Big 5 mammals among others.

You will enjoy the late breakfast by the hippo pool inside the crater, and then proceed on a game drive in the Crater till afternoon. Leave the crater floor in the afternoon for a hot lunch at the lodge. After lunch, drive back to Arusha ‘’3 to 4 hours. Overnight stay at The African Tulip. ’Bed and Breakfast’’.

Day 7; Transfer back to JRO Airport ‘’1.5 hours’’

You will have breakfast at your hotel and then, be driven to the airport for your departure flight back home. End of the safari tour.
