Tsavo East National Park Activities; Tsavo East National Park is famously known as a home with the largest population of elephants and captivating landscapes that inhabits a wide range of wildlife species. However, Tsavo East and Tsavo west National Park are combined, totaling up an area of about 22,000 square kilometers. Then when it comes to Tsavo East alone measure an area of about 13,747 square kilometers which is separated from Tsavo West by the A109 road along ‘’Nairobi –Mombasa highway’’ and railway which cross the park.
In fact, Tsavo East national park was established in 1948 and got its name from Tsavo River which runs from the West to the East of the park, Since the area is filled with a lots of water catchment like Athi River which connects with the Tsavo River to form the Galana River. Bird watching
The park is a truly birding paradise with over 500 bird species and some of bird species to see include; Vulturine Guinea fowl, Levant Sparrow, Ortolan Bunting, Savis Warbler, Golden-breasted Starling, Spine tail, Yellow-throated Sandgrouse ,Golden Pipit many more .More then ,Tsavo is also home to spot Somali Ostrich and migrate species from Europe . Other bird species to encounter include red-winged lark, Rosy patched Bush Shrike, Black-headed Lapwing and Eastern Chanting Goshawk.
Game viewing

Mudanda Rock

Aruba Dam
The Aruba dam is one of the attracting site in the park which was built in 1952 to serve the areas around and to animal species. It offers a great opportunity to visitors, most especially if you visit the park during dry seasons, have chances of seeing large animals drinking water. This is a majestic lava flow that sits to the North of Galana River stretches about 300 kilometers and sound as one of the oldest lava flows in the world. Of which visitors enjoy its outstanding historical formation.
