Park Entrance Fees – Lake Mburo National Park Uganda Safari 2020 – 23
Park Entrance fees are charges levied on any visitor in order to access the national park’s activities. Lake Mburo national park lies in Kiruhura district’’ near Mbarara town. Moreover, the park is conveniently close to the high way that connects Kampala city to the western part of Uganda. Note, Lake Mburo national park is the smallest among the Uganda’s savannah national park, covering an area of 260 square kilometers and originally gazette in 1933 as controlling hunting area and later upgraded to a game reserve in 1963.
To some people may think that, the park being small in size, there no park entry fees levied. Note, in order one to access the park needs to first pay the park entry fees. And is so doing it leads to development of the area around the park and the park as well.
Lake Mburo national park hosts with two gate entrances this is; Sanga gate and Nshara gate. Though each gate takes a different entrance route but they all access you to one final destination. Those from Kampala can reach the park premises through Nshara gate taking only 48 kilometers away from the main road. One accessing the park from Kampala city only takes you 12 kilometers. Despite the fact that, the distance from Kampala to Lake Mburo National Park estimates 248 kilometers.
Currently, there was a discussion which was made by the Uganda Wildlife Authority to open up the new gate to ease the excess entry to the park and in order activities of the park to run smoothly without any inconveniences.
The park entrance fees are updated by Uganda Wildlife Authority every after two years which are categorized into vehicles, individuals and Aircrafts.
The vehicle entrance fee is charged UGX20,000 for East African Citizens registered saloon cars and UGX 30,000 for SUV ‘’4×4 wheel drive.
Individuals
Foreign nonresident is entitled to pay USD40 ,foreign resident USD30 and UGX20,000 for East African residents as a park entrance fees.
Children foreign nonresidents pay USD20, foreign residents USD10 and UGX 5,000 East African residents.
Education institute and student’s rates
Schools also visits the park purposely for study tour and these groups of people can be students recognized from higher education institutions like primary schools, secondary and Universities.
East African student pupil pays UGX3,000 and university students pays UGX5,000 to access Lake Mburo national park.
East African wildlife clubs pay UGX2,000, students groups each pays UGX3000 and tertiary institutions pay UGX5,000.
Annual park entrance fees
Annual park entrance fees are paid annually to allow visitors enter the park throughout the year, they pay as an individual, groups and family with no more than four individuals.
Individuals –foreign nonresident is charged USD350, East African citizen UGX15,000 to access the park on annual basis.
A group of foreign nonresident pays USD500 and East African members pays UGX200,000 access Lake Mburo national park annually.
A family with not more than four individuals are charged UGX300,000 to access Lake Mburo national park annually.
Corporate park fees
These corporate companies or organized East African members are charged UGX 2,5000,000 as annual bases to allow them enter Lake Mburo national park for the activities.
Tour Operator fees
Tour operators with Uganda safari companies and organizations offers services to tourists like touring the park and they also pay charges on annual basis. They are charges UGX125,000.
Driver park fees
Drivers who transport visitors to the park, drivers who belong to companies are not charged park entrance fees.
Taxi drives not from travel company pays UGX100,000.
Vehicle park entry fees
These fees are basing on the type of the vehicle
Motorcycles with foreign resident is charged USD30 and East African member UGX10,000 to access the park.
Foreign nonresident saloon car is expected to pay USD40 entry fees ,10USDfor foreign resident and UGX20,000 for East African members.
Minibuses
Foreign residents pay USD50 and East African members pays UGX30,000 as a parking fee in Lake Mburo national park.
Tour company Vehicle
Foreign residents entitled to pay USD120 and UGX30,000 for East Africa citizen.
Pickups and 4WD cars USD50 foreign resident and UGX30,000 for East Africa access Lake Mburo National park.
Over landers
Foreign nonresidents with over lander are entitled USD150 entry fees, USD50 for foreign resident and UGX100,000 for East African citizens.
Buses and Lories
Foreign nonresident go with bus or lorries is charged USD150 entry fees, USD75 for foreign residents and UGX150,000 for East African citizens.
School buses
Foreign resident school buses are entitled USD25 entry fees and UGX50,000 for East African citizens.
Boat up to 15 seater
Foreign nonresident is entitled USD60, USD25 foreign residents and 50,000UGX for East African citizens.
Launches over 15 seat
Foreign nonresident pays USD100, USD75 for foreign resident and UGX150,000 for East African citizens.
Boats are entitled UGX10,000 as parking fees per day.
Aircraft landing fees
Glider, Microlights for foreign nonresident is entitled USD10, USD10 for foreign residents and UGX20,000 for East African citizens.
Up to 3 seater aircraft
Foreign nonresident is entitled USD20, USD20 for foreign resident and UGX 40,000 for East African citizens.
4 to 6 seater
Foreign nonresident is entitled to pay USD30, USD30 for foreign resident and UGX60,000 for East African citizens.
7 to 14 seater
Foreign nonresident is charged USD40, USD40 for foreign resident and UGX80,000 for East African citizens.
15 to 20 seater
Foreign nonresident is charged USD50, USD50 for foreign nonresident and UGX100,00 East African members citizens.
21 seats Aircraft
Foreign nonresident is charged USD60, USD60 for foreign resident and UGX120, OOO for East African citizens.
Helicopter
Foreign nonresident is charged USD125 per landing, USD100 for foreign resident and UGX250,000 for East African citizens.
Landing fees excludes entry fees payable by the visitor and pilot en route do not pay, if they spend less than 12 hours in the park.
Launch cruise or motorboat

Foreign nonresident is entitled USD30, USD30 for foreign residents and UGX30,000 for East Africa members.
Private guided game drives
The night game drive is only used with pre-registered vehicles in Lake Mburo national park and its mandatory to use Uganda Wildlife Authority.
Day guided game drive
Foreign nonresident pays USD20 per vehicle, USD20 for foreign resident and UGX20,00 for East African citizens.
Night game drive

Foreign nonresident pays USD15 per person, USD25 per person for 4 days.
All Uganda’s park entrance fees are set by Uganda Wildlife Authority a body that authorizes all Uganda’s national parks and reserves. The fees are set to make all the activities of the park run smoothly without any problems of hindrance at the gate.
The money paid or collected helps to cater for conservation of the nature of Lake Mburo national park, also to develop the local area around the park and the region.
