Best time to visit Rwanda : Rwanda officially known as the Republic of Rwanda (Kinyarwanda: Repubulika y’u Rwanda; French: Republique Du Rwanda), is a sovereign landlocked state which attained her political independence from Belgium on the 1st/07/1962 found in the Eastern and central Africa and is one of the smallest countries on the African continent. Rwanda has got a total population of about 11.92 million people (2016 World Bank statistics) and Kigali is her capital and largest city.
Rwanda covers a total area of about 26, 338 km2 (10,169 Sq mi) and bordered by countries like Uganda in the North, Tanzania in the East, Burundi in the South and the Democratic Republic of Congo in the West, Gen. Paul Kagame is her current President.
Rwanda is located a few degrees South of the Equator and is part of the African Great Lakes region with mountains in the West and Savanna to the East with numerous lakes throughout the country. Rwanda’s famous Volcano National Park is home to Mountain gorillas and Golden Monkeys, in this park, Mt. Karisimbi is the tallest mountain with over 4507M high also other mountains exist such as Bisoke, Gahinga, Muhabura and Sabinyo which are part of the five ancient eight volcanoes that form the Virunga Mountains.
Rwanda has also got other national parks like Nyungwe National park which is found South West with ancient montane rainforest that’s a habitat for Chimpanzees and the Akagera National park found along the border of Uganda and Rwanda sharing the Akagera River. The climate in Rwanda is Temperate to Subtropical with two rainy seasons and only two dry seasons each year.
The best time to visit Rwanda for an adventure is during the short dry season from Mid December to early February or the long dry season months of June to September (This is the best and awesome time to Visit Rwanda). October to November has shorter rains and don’t be taken off by these shorter rains and March to May, theses months receive longer, heavy and persistent rainfall amounts.
Rwanda offers a variety of tourist attraction experiences which are very unique. Rwanda as country is extremely small but there’s that one activity anyone can do upon visiting the country and that is Mountain gorilla trekking in the Volcanoes National Park, still with the Volcanoes, you can as well visit the Dian Fossey tombs who was a researcher on Mountain gorillas and left behind the Dian Fossey Fund in Kigali, you can also do Kigali city tour (Cleanest city in East Africa),
Visiting the historical genocide memorial museum within the capital, Butare (Huye) which is a cultural hub for the where you find a great national museum, visit Nyabisindu (Nayanza) where you find the extinct Royal palace of Rwanda’s feudal monarchy, Nyungwe and the Akagera national park offer activities like trekking Chimpanzees in the ancient montane forests, game drives for animals like lions, elephants, buffaloes, birding experience and many more.
Lake Kivu which is part of the Great Rift valley between the border of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, make sure you visit cities like Kibuye and Gisenyi near Rwanda-Congo border.
