Types of Tourists : A Tourist is a person who travels away from home especially to another country for leisure mainly and it’s usually for a few days or a month mostly. Tourists though are all on a leisure trip on their travelling they can be grouped in different categories; especially in Uganda the country receives a lot of visitors who come to for different leisure activities all year round. So in this article we breakdown the different types of tourists that come to Uganda. And just to give you a heads up these types are not written in stone so they can always be changed or adjusted. They types can also be married together, so you have like 3 different leisure activities at once.  The types are:-

  1. Safari tourists

These are tourists that come to the country only for safaris nothing else.  These usually come with the aim of going to the wild to view wild animals and flora. They will have an itinerary of only wild parks and nature activities. When these people visit Uganda they go to places like Bwindi national park, Queen Elizabeth national park, Murchison falls national park, kidepo national park among other wildlife places.

  1. Adventure tourists

These tourists are usually called the adrenaline junkies because they go to leisure trips to quench their thirty for adventure ad adrenaline. These tourists will go for activities like bungee jumping, mountain hiking, white water rafting, top of the falls hike, sipi falls trek and many other activities.

  1. Cultural Tourists
Types of Tourists
Karamajong

These are more interested in culture and traditions so they will look out for experiences that allow them to interact with the communities. When they visit these communities they will usually have time to learn about the different cultures, norms, behaviors, beliefs and may others things aout these communities. When these tourists visit Uganda they will visit communities like the Buganda communities, batwa people, ike people and Karamojongs, eastern Uganda – the bagishu, Busoga, itesos and others. Western the batooro and the palace Banyankole and many others.

  1. Religious Tourists

These travel for religious purposes tourism majorly. They visited places like the namirembe cathedral, rubaga cathedral, the gadafhi mosque, temple of Bahia, Namugongo shrines and many other religious places. The most popular religious tourist activity in Uganda is the June 3rd martyrs day at Namugongo shrines it attracts over 20,000 people yearly.

Business/educational/seminar tourists

These Tourists are usually in the country for one or all these activities Business, education, conference, seminar etc and on the sidelines of those activities they ca get a chance to enjoy the country and its attractions.

Sports tourists

Like how Uganda is hosting afcon 2027, may people will come to the country for the sports activities that will happen I that time ad o the sidelines of those sports activities get to enjoy the beauty of the Pearl of Africa. Uganda has a number of sports activities like football, basketball, cricket, netball, volleyball, rugby among others; and all year round these sports have evets happening that people come to watch.

Event/Volunteer Tourists

These tourists come to the country for a given period under an event or company or a cause which they will e apart as they stay here.  They will spend most of the days in the country fulfilling their commitment to where they are in the country and spend their final days in the country exploring the beauty of Uganda.

Medical Tourists

These Tourists live in one country but travel to different other countries for medical reasons to get better medication or care or medical consolations. These tourists normally dot explore the country because they are weak or so, but in some rare cases they do.
