Mountain gorillas can be found in East African countries of Uganda, Rwanda and Congo. Trekking encounter takes place in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest national park and Mgahinga gorillas national park in Uganda, Volcanoes national park in Rwanda and Virunga national park in Congo.
The best time for visiting these critically endangered mountain gorillas is during the dry season in the month of June to September and December to February when the trekking trail heads are passable and there are less chances of rainfall. Nothing worth enjoying like trekking gorillas in their protective areas.
Mountain gorillas experience is categorized into two half day and full day activity. Half day gorilla trekking permits costs USD700 in Uganda per person per trek, USD400 in Congo and USD1,500 in Rwanda. The full day gorilla trekking experience can only be done in Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable national park at cost USD1,500 per person per trek, the cost is like that of Rwanda’s half day activity. Above all Uganda is the most visited Gorilla Safari Destination among the three countries followed by Rwanda.
Gorilla trekking experience is done with a maximum of eight persons that are allowed to trek a given group of mountain gorillas in a day and strictly ‘’one hour’’ given for observation from the time the apes are allocated.
