Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Kisoro
Upon arrival in Kampala/Entebbe – from your hotel in Kampala, you will be picked up to transfer to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park that sits in the Southwestern part of Uganda which is estimated 540km from Kampala by road. You will have a stopover at the equator for photography and water experiments and another stopover in Mbarara town for lunch. Continue to Kisoro arriving in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay at Lake Mulehe Safari Lodge for mid-range, Ichumbi Hotel for budget
Day 2: Golden monkey tracking in Mgahinga National Park
After a delicious breakfast, drive back to the park headquarters for a briefing about the endangered golden monkeys and be allocated to your assigned group. Connect to the tracking starting point and enter the forest to search for the rare golden monkey.
Golden monkey tracking takes about 1-5 hours to locate them and other primates in the park to see like the red-tailed monkeys, Vervet monkeys among others. After viewing the rare golden monkeys for an hour while taking pictures and studying their behaviors, return to the meeting point to meet your driver. Connect to your booked lodge close to Bwindi impenetrable national park. Dinner and overnight stay at Four Gorilla Lodge for mid-range/Rushaga Haven Lodge for budget
Day 3: Gorilla trekking experience
After enjoying an early morning breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters with your packed lunch for a briefing about gorilla trekking rules. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi takes 2 to 7 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. These primates like roaming the park freely and there is no way of telling where they will be for a particular day. Upon finding them, you will be allowed 1 hour to view and take photos of these gentle primates, enjoy your lunch packs and meet your driver/guide and return back to your lodge. Dinner and overnight at Lodge as above
Day 4: Transfer back to Entebbe and Departure
You will enjoy breakfast, check out of the lodge and transfer back to Kampala with a stopover in Mbarara town for lunch. Continue to Kampala/Entebbe arriving in late afternoon. You will be drop off at the hotel in either Kampala/Entebbe as you advised or at Entebbe airport for your onward flight back home.
