11 Days Classic Gorilla and Wildlife safari

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale National Park (4 hours)

After breakfast and set out for your journey from Entebbe to Kibale Forest National Park driving past Mityana town with lunch en-route in Fort Portal town and proceed with the journey to Kibale forest. Dinner and overnight stay at Chimpanzee forest guest house

Day 2: Chimpanzee Habituation Experience (Full Day)

Have breakfast and report to the park headquarters for briefing after which you embark on the Chimpanzee habituation experience where you attend to the Chimpanzees as a care taker! You will enter the forest early and watch chimps leaving their overnight nests between 6:00 – 6:30am before feeding, copulating, hunting, breastfeeding, resting, patrolling and displaying until it is time to build new nests around 7pm. Return for dinner and overnight as above.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park (5 hours)

Enjoy breakfast and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park with an exciting visit to Amabere Ganyinamwiru stalagmites site, caves and the waterfall plus a rewarding hike to the crater lakes in Fort portal. Have lunch and proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Arrive Queen Elizabeth national park and embark on the evening game drive in the Kasenyi sector – a favourable hunting and mating ground for lions. Enjoy a 3 hour Game drive and proceed to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Kingfisher Lodge

Day 4: Ishasha Game drive and Launch cruise

Wake up before dawn, sip a cup of coffee and embark on your drive to Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth national park for a game drive where you may see most of the big five and chance yourself a sight of the tree climbing lions. This side of the park is less explored and the vegetation itself is interesting. Exit Ishasha at 11am and drive to Mweya where you will enjoy lunch at Mweya safari lodge.

In the afternoon, you will go for a 3 hours launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel. This cruise will let you pass through a place of the highest concentration of hippos and you may also see many animals drinking at the water’s edge. The cruise also offers good platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight at Kingfisher Lodge as above.

Day 5: Full Day in Queen Elizabeth National Park

Enjoy breakfast and set out for the morning game drive to catch up with the early riders and boost your chances of seeing even more wildlife that you could have missed out on the previous days.

Visit the Katwe salt pans where you will see locals doing salt mining. Have lunch in Mweya and enjoy another boat cruise on the Kazinga channel – you can never get enough of it! Dinner and overnight at Kingfisher Lodge.

Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi Via Ishasha (8 hours)

Breakfast will be served early and embark on your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest driving through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth national park to boost your chances of seeing the tree climbing lions. Proceed to Bwindi with lunch en-route arriving in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay at Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge

Day 7: Gorilla trek in Bwindi forest Park

Early in the morning after breakfast and a briefing from the UWA officials, set off for the gorilla tracking. This is a once life time experience and unforgettable adventure. The ranger guides will lead you into the thick forest and start your search for the endangered Mountain Gorillas. You will move up and down the rugged terrain until you finally meet these harmonious creatures that will entertain you with performances for about 1 hour.

The activity can take 2 to 8 hours depending on the movement of the Gorillas. This is an awesome and exciting moment. En-route, there are other types of the primates such as the monkeys, birds and more. After the trek, you will receive your Gorilla trekking certificate and meet up with your driver / guide and return to the lodge where you will spend the evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay at Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge as above.

Day 8: Batwa Trail & Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi (2 hours)

Enjoy breakfast and go for the Batwa trail experience where you will visit the Batwa pygmies with a local “twa” guide. You will learn about how they survived in the forest and their current ways of life! Have lunch and embark on the afternoon drive to Kabale town – known as the “Switzerland of Africa” with its lovely terraced hills and continue to Lake Bunyonyi arriving in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Arcadia Cottages

Day 9: Lake Bunyonyi Tour

Breakfast will be served and you go for a boat ride and tour the various islands with different experiences! Lake Bunyonyi literary means “a place of little birds” and as such you will experience a lot of bird life on the islands and get an insight into the peoples’ way of living as you visit the locals. You can even enjoy a swim there! Dinner and overnight at Arcadia cottages as above.

Day 10: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park (4 hours)

Have breakfast at leisure and transfer to Lake Mburo National Park arriving in good time for lunch and an evening game drive. This park is the only place you will see Zebras on the entire safari! Dinner and overnight stay at Rwakobo Rock

Day 11: Transfer to Entebbe (3 hours)

Get up before the morning light and go for an early morning game drive to catch up with the early risers and a chance of spotting the leopard. Return to the lodge to freshen up and enjoy mid-morning breakfast, after which you transfer back to Entebbe with a stopover at Equator at Kayabwe for water experiments and photographs, Royal drum Village at Mpambire for souvenirs. Drop off at your hotel in Entebbe.
