Day 1: Transfer to Masai Mara national reserve
Depending on your location in Nairobi city, you will meet your driver guide to embark on your journey to transfer to Masai Mara national reserve. It’s a 5-6 hours’ drive with an en-route drive through the Narok area where you can visit the Masai market as an optional activity. Masai Mara is actually the northern portion of the Great Plains ecosystem in neighbouring Tanzania bordering Serengeti national park. It is home to the big five games such as the lion, buffalo, rhino, leopard, and elephant as well cheetah, zebra, giraffe, and vast herds of plain antelope and numerous and other wildlife.
Upon arrival, have lunch then connect for an afternoon/evening game drive in search of the big five. As the sun starts to edge dip into the horizon, it will be the perfect time to photograph the beautiful Mara rolling plains. Don’t forget this is the right time to spot the shy leopard. Day 2: Full day game drive in Maasai Mara
Wake up early in the morning, have breakfast and grab your packed lunch and meet your safari driver to head to the plains of Maasai Mara for a full day adventure in this stunning savanna vegetation of Masai Mara plains as you watch many animals in large numbers such as lions, elephants, cheetahs, leopards, wildebeests, zebras and many more. You will enjoy your picnic lunch and proceed for a game drive till the sun goes down. In the evening you will head back to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight at lodge as above
Day 3: Another day – Full day in Masai Mara – community tour
After breakfast, you will head to the plains of the reserve for the final morning game drive sighting more animals, after the game drive you will head back to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon you will After the experience, you will head back to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight at lodge as above
Optional activity; Hot air balloon – Wake early and be picked up by the air balloon team for your hot air balloon safari which starts in the early morning, just in time for sunrise. For about one hour you will be floating peacefully above the ground, with a bird’s eye view of the African bush below. The capacity for this activity is limited making this a very special and exclusive experience. Breakfast will be provided and thereafter connect back to the lodge.
Later afternoon, head to the Maasai village/Masai Loita Hills for a cultural experience. On this experience, you will enjoy getting a deeper insight into the Maasai culture by interacting with the local Maasai people, be entertained by local dancers, drama and Maasai warriors; buy local Maasai items such as local Maasai Shukas, beautifully made accessories such as necklaces and earrings and taste local cuisines. Day 4: Transfer to Lake Nakuru national park (5-6 hours’ drive)
After breakfast, set off to transfer to Lake Nakuru national park with en-route lunch. Upon arrival, connect to your booked lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay at Ziwa Bush lodge for budget/Lake Nakuru Lodge for mid-range
Day 5: Full day game drive – Lake Nakuru national park
After breakfast, connect for a full day game drive in Lake Nakuru national park with your packed lunch box. The game drive in the park followed by a walk along the shores which will also allow us to see the many wild animals in the park and especially the park is the Sanctuary to the Black Rhino, White Rhino, and the Rothschild Giraffe. Here you will have the chance to look out at some of the common species like the Lesser and Greater Flamingos, African fish Eagle, Tawny Eagle, Green Wood Hoopoes, Cliff Chat, Great White, and Pink Backed Pelicans plus other intra- African Migrants. Later evening, drive to your booked lodge for check-in, dinner and overnight stay at lodge as above
Day 6: Transfer to Lake Naivasha Hell’s gate national park visit
After breakfast, Thereafter, proceed to Lake Naivasha, check-in at your booked lodge for lunch. After lunch, connect to Hell’s gate national park for a game drive. Optional activities that you can do include hiking, rocking climbing, bike riding, walking through nature trails and number of picnic sites. Dinner and overnight stay at Enashipia Resort and Spa for mid-range/Sweetlake Resort for budget
Day 7: Crescent Island tour
After breakfast, visit Crescent Island Game Sanctuary – a peninsula or island on the eastern side of Lake Naivasha. A short boat trip from the mainland out into Lake Naivasha gives you access to the unique Crescent Island Wildlife Sanctuary, which hosts giraffes, waterbucks, elands, wildebeests, zebras, and impalas. It is also a haven for more than 200 species of birds. The lake has a lot of hippos which you can easily spot from the island. Among the resident birds are fish eagles, ospreys, lily-trotters, black crakes, and a variety of herons. Return to the hotel for spend your afternoon at the hotel, dinner and overnight stay at lodge as above
Day 8: Transfer to back Nairobi (4-5 hours)
After breakfast, do a morning game drive and check-out and drive out of the park to return to Nairobi. The safari driver will drop you off at a location to advise. End of safari
