The 10 days Rwanda and Zanzibar beach adventure is an exceptional tour that will start from Kigali Rwanda and end in Zanzibar Tanzania. The safari will take you to Nyungwe Forest National Park and Volcanoes National Park which is famously known for harbouring the endangered mountain gorillas. During the 10 days Rwanda and Zanzibar beach adventure, you will be able to engage in an adventurous chimpanzee and gorilla trekking experience where you will be able to spend time with the mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. You will also visit Zanzibar where you will relax and enjoy the beach experience.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Depending on your location in Kigali on the first day of the 10 days Rwanda and Zanzibar beach adventure, you will be welcomed by a driver guide from Achieve Global Safaris who will brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Nyungwe Forest National Park. On the way, you will have a stopover for en-route lunch and then proceed with another stopover at Butare Museum and Nyanza Palace. Upon arrival in Nyungwe Forest National Park, you will connect to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking experience and Canopy

After an early breakfast on the second day of the 10 days Rwanda and Zanzibar beach adventure, you will meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a chimpanzee trekking briefing. After the briefing, you will be allocated an experienced park guide who is well conversant with trails in the forest and start trekking in the forest which takes about 30 minutes to 5 hours depending on where the chimpanzees are located. During trekking, you will be able to view other primates, bird species, plant and tree species among others. Once the chimpanzees are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which helps you to learn about their behaviors, watch them feed, breastfeed, fight, hunt, take photos, and record videos. After the face-to-face encounter with the chimpanzees, you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet up with your driver guide to return to the lodge for lunch.
Canopy walk
After lunch, you will go for a thrilling canopy walk which starts with a briefing at Uwinka park headquarters. After the briefing, you will connect to the Igishigishi trail for the canopy walk which takes about 1 to 2 hours and measures a total of 160 meters long and 70 meters above the ground level. During the canopy walk tour, you will enjoy stunning views of different wildlife, forest tops, birds, colourful butterflies among others. After the canopy walk, you will return to the lodge for evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast on the third day of the 10 days Rwanda and Zanzibar beach adventure, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Volcanoes National Park. On the way, you will have en-route lunch and great views of Lake Kivu, beautiful scenery, landscape, and tea plantations among others. Upon arrival in Volcanoes National Park, you will check in at the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park

After an early breakfast on the fourth day of the 10 days Rwanda and Zanzibar beach adventure, you will carry your lunch box and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kinigi park headquarters for a briefing about the rules, regulations, and expectations of gorilla trekking. After the briefing, you will be divided into groups of 8 people where each group will be allocated a gorilla family to trek and an experienced park guide who is knowledgeable about the mountain gorillas. Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park takes about 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on their location and during trekking, you will be able to view forest birds, other primate species, and plant and tree species among others.
Once the mountain gorillas are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them which gives you a chance to learn more about their behaviors, and habits, take photos, watch them carry out their daily activities, and record the incredible memories to show people back home. After the one hour with the mountain gorillas, you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will be awarded a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking and then meet up with your guide to return to the lodge for an evening relaxation dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Transfer to Kigali-city tour
On the fifth day of the 10 days Rwanda and Zanzibar beach adventure, you will have breakfast at leisure, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey back to Kigali. Upon arrival, you will have lunch and later go for a short Kigali city tour where you will be able to visit Kigali Genocide memorial center, Kimironko market, and art centers among others. After the city tour, you will connect to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Departure Flight to Zanzibar
On the sixth day of the 10 days Rwanda and Zanzibar beach adventure, you will have a relaxed breakfast at the hotel, check out, and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight to Zanzibar. Upon arrival in Zanzibar, you will be picked up by our driver guide and driven to your hotel for check-in, lunch, and relaxation. Later you will go for a city tour in Stone Town and then return to the hotel as you wait for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 7: Prison Island and Spice Tour
After breakfast on the seventh day of the 10 days Rwanda and Zanzibar beach adventure, you will take a private boat from your hotel in Stone Town to Changuu Island or Prison Island where you will enjoy learning about the history and also seeing the old Giant tortoises. You will take a boat back from Changuu Island to Stone Town for lunch. After lunch, you will go for a spice tour as you explore the plantations where you will see different exotic spices and also get to buy and know the uses of spices like cloves, cinnamon nutmeg among others. After the spice tour, you will transfer to Nungwe, and upon arrival, you will check you’re your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Safari Blue experience
On the eighth day of the 10 days Rwanda and Zanzibar beach adventure, you will have breakfast, and your driver guide will pick you up from the hotel to go for the amazing safari blue experience where you will enjoy the best boat tour on the island, sailing in the beautiful traditional Dhows. You will enjoy a boat ride, beautiful scenery, clear and safe water, enjoy delicious seafood and drinks, fresh tropical fruits and snacks, snorkeling, and also visit Menai Bay. After the experience, you will be driven back to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay as above.
Day 9: Zanzibar Beach Experience and swim with turtles
On the ninth day of the 10 days Rwanda and Zanzibar beach adventure, you will have breakfast at leisure and then transfer to Baraka Aquarium where you will be able to swim with the turtles. Later return to the hotel for lunch and have a day to relax at the white sand beaches of Zanzibar Island and enjoy views of the Indian Ocean. Dinner and overnight stay as above.
Day 10: Departure
After breakfast on the last day of the 10 days Rwanda and Zanzibar beach adventure, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the Zanzibar airport where you will be dropped off for your departure flight which brings your safari to an end.
