Kyaninga Lodge

Kyaninga Lodge is one of the Luxury lodges in Kibale forest National Park situated about 1 hour drive from the park headquarters. Kyaninga Lodge is the best option for tourists who wish to reside in a luxury lodge while on a safari to Kibale forest national park though it can as well be used by travelers on a safari to Semliki national park, Queen Elizabeth national park as well as Rwenzori mountains national park since they are situated a few hours’ drive from Kibale forest national park.

Kyaninga Lodge was constructed with an African touch by help of local materials making it a stunning and outstanding lodge for luxury tourists. About the Kyaninga Lodge Cottages,

As stated above, Kyaninga lodge consists of 8 self-contained luxurious cottages, very spacious with clean private and clean washrooms well fitted with a bathtub. Each of the cottages has a private terrace where one can sit and relax overlooking the stunning nature ahead including the views of the tea plantations, Kyaninga Crater Lake, and the Ranges of Mount Rwenzori. All the 8 cottages are connected to the main lodge building with the wooden walk ways. 

In case it rains, grab an umbrella in your cottage and use since it is for you as a guest. The rooms as well have at least 3 power lines where guests can charge their electronic devices.

About the Kyaninga Lodge main building area

The main building of Kyaninga Lodge consists a lounge, an open fire place where one can sit in the evening for warmth while sipping on a glass of wine. The main building of Kyaninga Lodge also had a dining area where guest have their meals from. The meals serves at Kyaninga Lodge include both local dishes made of foods obtained from our local market and European cuisine. The main building of Kyaninga Lodge also has a WIFI.

Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale forest national park

Chimpanzee Trekking Safari is usually the highlight of the safaris in Kibale National Park enjoyed by almost every traveler on a Uganda safari to Kibale. Thus combining chimpanzee trekking safari with a stay at Kyaninga Lodge is such a rewarding and thrilling experience. Kibale forest is known to be the primate capital of the world with over 13 primate species calling the forest their home hence forth during chimpanzee trekking, guests are rewarded with an encounter with other primate species. As of 2021, a chimpanzee trekking permit costs $200 for foreign nonresidents, $150 foreign residents and UgX 150,000 for Easter African community members. 

However, those who wish to spend more time with chimpanzees in their natural habitats can opt for a chimpanzee habituation experience (CHEX) that lasts more than 1 hour of a chimpanzee trekking. Chimpanzee habituation lasts for 4 hours with chimpanzees and a permit costs $250, just an addition of $50 on a trekking permit. Kyaninga crater walk

This is about 2 hours walk that takes guests to the Crater Lake that lies just near the Kyaninga Lodge. This walk is so rewarding with fascinating views of the stunning fauna and flora species along the shores of the lake. This guided walk takes guests on a walk through farmlands of the local communities with a chance of interaction with these locals in their farms and deep inside the forest with a golden opportunity of spot different primate species and many other forest dwellers. There is yet another golden opportunity of explore other crater lakes including the Kasenda and Ndali craters.

Bird Watching 

You may choose to watch birds at the terrace of your lodge or even choose to take a birding walk around the lodge premises where you will be able to spot several species of bird with the help of a lodge staff.

Getting to Kyaninga Lodge,

Kyaninga Lodge can be accessed either from Kampala or from Fortpotal. Along Mpanga Bridge, you need to make a turn northwards and drive for about 2km and then make a left turn for about 6km to Kyaninga Lodge.

Direct from Fortpotal town, it takes about 20minutes road drive to get to Kyaninga Lodge.
