The 7 days Uganda Rwanda primates tour is an adventurous safari that starts and ends in Kigali Rwanda. The safari will take you to Nyungwe forest national park, Volcanoes national park and Bwindi impenetrable national park. During the 7 days Uganda Rwanda primates tour, you will be able to engage in an adventurous chimpanzee, gorilla and golden monkey trekking activity where you will get a chance to spend time with the chimpanzees, mountain gorillas and golden monkeys in their natural habitat.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Nyungwe forest national park
Depending on your location in Kigali on the first day of the 7 days Uganda Rwanda primates tour, you will be welcomed by a driver guide from Achieve Global Safaris who will brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Nyungwe forest national park. On the way you will have a stopover for en-route lunch and then proceed with another stopover at Butare museum and Nyanza palace. Upon arrival in Nyungwe forest national park, you will connect to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking experience and Canopy
Chimpanzee trekking,
After an early breakfast on the second day of the 7 days Uganda Rwanda primates tour, you will meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for chimpanzee trekking briefing. After the briefing you will be allocated an experienced park guide who is well conversant with trails in the forest and start trekking in the forest which takes about 30 minutes to 5 hours depending on where the chimpanzees are located. During trekking you will be able to view other primates, bird species, plant and tree species among others. Once the chimpanzees are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which helps you to learn about their behaviours, watch them feed, breastfeed, fight, hunt, take photos and record videos. After the face to face encounter with the chimpanzees you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet up with your driver guide to return to the lodge for lunch.
Canopy walk
After lunch, you will go for a thrilling canopy walk which starts with a briefing at Uwinka park headquarters. After the briefing, you will connect to Igishigishi trail for the canopy walk which takes about 1 to 2 hours measures a total of 160 meters long and 70 meters above the ground level. During the canopy walk tour, you will enjoy stunning views of different wildlife, forest tops, birds, colourful butterflies among others. After the canopy walk, you will return to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes national park
After breakfast on the third day of the 7 days Uganda Rwanda primates tour, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Volcanoes national park. On the way you will have en-route lunch and great views of Lake Kivu, beautiful scenery, landscape, tea plantations among others. Upon arrival in Volcanoes national park you will check in at the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Golden monkey trekking in Volcanoes national park

After an early breakfast on the fourth day of the 7 days Uganda Rwanda primates tour, you will meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kinigi park headquarters for a golden monkey briefing. After the briefing you will start trekking in the forest with an experienced park guide which takes about 30 minutes to 5 hours depending on their location. During Rwanda gorilla trekking you will be able to view forest birds, other primate species, plant and tree species among others. Once the golden monkeys are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them which gives you a chance to learn more about their behaviors, habits, take photos, watch them carry out their daily activities and record the incredible memories to show people back home. After the one hour with the golden monkeys, you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will be awarded a certificate for participating in golden monkey trekking and then meet up with your guide to return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will go for an interesting Ibyi’wacu cultural tour where you will interact with the local people, learn about their culture, way of living, enjoy their traditional entertainment among others. After the cultural tour, you will drive back to the lodge for an evening relaxation dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park
On the fifth day of the 7 days Uganda Rwanda primates tour, you will have breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey to Bwindi impenetrable national park. On the way, you will have en-route lunch and enjoy stunning views of the rolling hills, traditional homesteads, Kigezi hills, tea and banana plantations among others. Upon arrival in Bwindi national park, you will connect to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Gorilla trekking experience
On the sixth day of the 7 days Uganda Rwanda tour, you will have breakfast and carry your packed lunch to go for a briefing about the rules and regulations of gorilla trekking. After the briefing, you will start trekking in the forest which takes about 30 minutes to 7 hours depending on where the gorillas are located because they like to move from one place to another in search of food. During trekking, you will be able to view other primates, different bird species, plant and tree species among others. Once the mountain gorillas are found, you will be able to spend one hour with them in their environment where you will get an opportunity to learn about their habits, watch them feed, breastfeed, play, groom young ones, take photos and record videos to show people back home after the safari.
After the encounter with the mountain gorillas, you will meet up with your driver guide and return to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Transfer to Kigali-city tour
On the last day of the 7 days Uganda Rwanda primates tour, you will have breakfast at leisure, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey back to Kigali.
On the way, you will have en-route lunch and upon arrival, you will go for a short Kigali city tour where you will be able to visit Kigali Genocide memorial centre, Kimironko market, art centres among others. After the city tour, you will connect to your hotel or transfer to Kigali International airport for your departure flight.
