6 Days Rwanda & Congo Gorilla Safari
The 6 Days Rwanda & Congo Gorilla Safari leads you to two great places that inhabit different species of gorillas, that is, Mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park and Eastern lowland gorillas in Kahuzi Biega National Park. You will enjoy one great two-in-one gorilla trekking experience in two different places.
Safari Summary
Day 1: Pick up in Kigali and transfer to Volcanoes national park and Ibyi’wacu Village Tour (About 3 hours’ drive).
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Volcanoes NP Rwanda.
Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe. (estimates 6-7 Hours’ drive)
Day 4: Cross to Bukavu, Congo
Day 5: Lowland Gorilla Trekking in Kahuzi-Biega National Park
Day 6: Transfer back to Kigali (Approximately 7-8 hours’ drive)
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up in Kigali and transfer to Volcanoes national park and Ibyi’wacu Village Tour (About 3 hours’ drive).
Upon arrival at Kigali International airport, you will be welcomed by our safari driver-guide in the Land of a Thousand Hills. Depending on the time, you will be driven to the Kigali City tour, where you will visit the local market and the Kigali Genocide memorial site. OR, transfer to Volcanoes National Park with a stop at Ibyiwacu Village for a cultural visit and watching their local dance. Arrive in the evening, and check into the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at Da Vinci Lodge -Midrange.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Volcanoes NP Rwanda.
After having an early breakfast at the lodge, you will be driven to the meeting center for a gorilla trekking briefing. After the briefing, you will walk into the cold and misty forested slopes of Volcanoes to search for these unique gentle species. When you find them, you will be given an hour to spend with them, learning about their behavior and habits as well as enjoying taking pictures.
After a great encounter, drive back to the lodge to have a hot lunch and relaxation.
Later on, you will go visit the research center and the Dian Fossey Museum as you get to discover the history behind her. Back at the lodge for dinner and overnight stay as above.
Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe. (estimates 6-7 Hours’ drive)
After having a delicious breakfast, transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park with a picnic lunch. Arriving in the afternoon, check into your lodge, relax, and have dinner and an overnight stay at Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel -Midrange.
Day 4: Cross to Bukavu, Congo
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, then depart at the Cyangugu border, where you will check in at the immigration office. Thereafter, you will meet our Congo safari driver on the Congo border. After a briefing, you will drive to Bukavu town with an option of a city tour before checking into your hotel for lunch.
After lunch, you will spend leisure time at the hotel. Optional tour: go visit Lwiro Sanctuary, where you will visit orphaned chimps that have been rescued from poachers. Dinner and an overnight stay at Panorama Hotel
Day 5: Lowland Gorilla Trekking in Kahuzi-Biega National Park
After a morning breakfast at the lodge, you will be driven to the park headquarters for a low gorilla trekking briefing. After the briefing, you will be accompanied by a ranger to lead you through the forest trails in search of these lowland gorillas. Once you allocate them, you will be given an hour to spend with them, observing their uniqueness and enjoying taking memorable photography.
After the gorilla experience, drive back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay as above.
Day 6: Transfer back to Kigali (Approximately 7-8 hours’ drive)
Enjoy a delicious breakfast at leisure before transferring back to Kigali, where you will be dropped at your hotel or at any place of your choice. End of the tour.
